Mixing Colour with Bicarbonate of Soda

Materials:

  • Bicarbonate of Soda
  • Vinegar
  • Shallow plate with a hinge
  • Blue, Red and yellow food colouring
  • Three cups
Educating CHildren|Preschool|Science|colours(secondary)|Mixing Colour with Bicarbonate of Soda and Food Colouring

Instructions:

  • In the shallow dish place three cups
  • Place bicarbonate of soda in each cup
  • Place each food colouring in one each of the cups
  • Pour the vinegar and watch how the bicarbonate of soda turns red, blue and yellow in the cups
  • Watch as the gas rises and over flows on to the plate how the colours mix together
